
This project is in the development stage — the script is currently being adapted from the not yet produced, completed, movie version of the script and we are casting performers for the reading and workshop only at this time. The reading will be performed for backers, producers, agents, and creative collaborators and will be performed around June 1st, 2015 in Los Angeles.
Seeking all-around multi talented performers in late teens - mid 20s and adult roles, all with strong pop/contemporary musical theatre voices. Must be comfortable with strong dramatic material and have an artistic desire to be a part of an ensemble bringing a new theatrical piece to life. All ethnicities encouraged to audition. All “types” are only suggested.

Julia: Actress/Singer to play age 13 on stage (may be between 11-18) to play a kind, inquisitive, sensitive small town girl. Must have spectacular voice and strong acting ability.

Melanie: Actress/Singer, to play age 17 on stage (may be between 16-24) to play outspoken, charismatic girl of great heart and spirit . Must have spectacular voice and strong acting ability.

Candy: Actress/Singer, to play age 17 on stage (may be between 16-24) to play one of the Mary Jane's. She is beautiful, polished, popular perfection. Must have spectacular voice and strong acting ability.

Jesse: African American actor to play age 17 on stage (may be between 16-24) to play good looking, smart, intense, charismatic son of Ida Mae. Must have spectacular voice and strong acting ability.

Ida Mae: African American Actress age 30-50 to play a midwife/housekeeper, who is fired by the Anderson’s, and aspires to be a nurse. Must have spectacular voice and strong acting ability.

Audrey: Actress/ Singer age 30-50, looks like she just stepped out of the pages of 1950’s Ladies Home Journal, a stylish, traditional 1950’s housewife and caring mother of Candy and Julia. Must have spectacular voice and strong acting ability.
